KJ is seeking applications for the role of Ranger Coordinator with its highly successful Martu Ranger Program.
Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ) operates an Indigenous ranger program based out of the Martu communities in the Western Desert. The program delivers a range of environmental activities using a mixture of traditional knowledge and contemporary science. The ranger program forms a key part of KJ’s growing social, cultural and land management activities across the Martu native title determination comprising of 13.6 million hectares of desert country.
The broader program aims to realise Martu aspirations for getting back to their traditional country, passing on their knowledge and culture to younger generations and to actively work on country to make it healthy again.
Ranger Coordinator positions are mentally and physically challenging, and at times they can be working long hours and in very remote settings. They are important positions that are pivotal in KJ’s land programs.
The successful applicant will work in a complementary way with other Ranger Coordinators and their team, particularly if they are in the same community, with the aim of achieving a co-delivery model as appropriate.
