Jila Jila spring gets a clean

The Punmu Women & Families Program (WFP) team came together with Rawa Primary School, Punmu Home and Community Care (HACC) and the Punmu ranger team to dig and clean out Jila Jila spring.

Participants from the Women and Families Program arrived first and set-up camp. Rawa School arrived and brought a written version of the Dreaming story about Jila Jila spring so everyone could read together.

When it was time to work, everyone got stuck into digging out the waterhole; some taking it in turns with the big shovels while the younger kids worked slowly (but surely) with toy shovels.

Someone from Rawa High School brought a ukele along which meant everyone was singing along as the teams cleared the spring.

Once the water was running, the kids REALLY enjoyed playing in the mud. A thorough hosing down was required before they could return to Rawa School!
