THE OPPORTUNITY
KJ is seeking an experienced HR professional to build and lead our first dedicated internal Human Resources function.
This is a newly created, hands-on senior generalist role with genuine organisation-wide influence. Your first focus will be strengthening the fundamentals — recruitment and onboarding, employee records, contracts, Award coverage and classifications, employment conditions, HR systems and employee relations.
From there, the opportunity gets bigger.
You will work closely with managers and senior leaders to strengthen workforce planning, performance and development, manager capability, recruitment and retention, workforce reporting and KJ's longer-term employment framework.
Some of the foundations need work. That is part of the opportunity.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Establish and lead KJ's internal HR function.
Strengthen recruitment, onboarding, employment records and HR systems.
Provide practical advice on employment conditions, Modern Awards and employee relations.
Support managers with performance, development and workforce matters.
Improve workforce planning, reporting, recruitment and retention.
Help shape KJ's longer-term employment and people framework.
ABOUT YOU
You may be an experienced HR Manager or HR Business Partner, or a strong Senior HR Adviser ready to take ownership of a function.
You will bring:
strong knowledge of Australian employment law and Modern Awards;
sound employee relations experience;
practical judgement and a hands-on approach;
the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse workforce; and
the confidence to improve systems while supporting managers through change.
Experience with the SCHADS Award, Aboriginal or community organisations, not-for-profits, remote services or geographically dispersed workforces would be highly regarded.
LOCATION AND CONDITIONS
Location: Newman preferred; Perth considered
Travel: Travel to Newman and remote Martu communities
Salary: $120,000–$140,000 + super
